GasRam™ for the SWAT Operator
Nomenclature
The GasRam™ has five parts:
Body – The body of the GasRam™ is constructed of schedule 40 American steel designed to withstand ___ pounds of pressure and weighs 30 ponds.
Handles – The handles of the GasRam™ are welded to the body to allow for one or two operators to carry and deploy the gas ram. They are covered with electrical tape to help insulate the operator from electrical shock in the rare instance of penetrating a power line inside a wall.
Cap – The cap is screwed to the body with ___ threads. The cap has a port threaded to allow for the attachment of a non-lethal pyrotechnic chemical agent grenade. Unlike other products on the market the inside of the cap has a standoff on the port to allow for any grenade to release its payload out of the top of the grenade. The cap is interchangeable with the BurnSafe™.
Burst Disk – The "Fike" rupture disk is attached to body in a position where it should not impede the deployment of the GasRam™ and yet burst at a designated pressure (73 pounds per square inch) to insure that the GasRam™ body if used properly will not rupture injuring the operator.
Probes – There are two different probes and a door ram that can be attached to the front of the body allowing for flexibility in the use of the GasRam™. The probes are hollow allowing for the release of smoke through the probe. The probe is strong enough to penetrate a stucco wall or the side of a vehicle with little effort. The round door ram can be used to force entry through locked doors.
The standard gas ram with probe attached weighs 25 pounds.
The magnum ram with probe attached weighs 35 pounds.
